Snow, Ice, and the Aftermath

The snow and ice really were beautiful.

In our front yard, we have, scratch that, HAD two maples.  Every time I looked out the window they were bent closer to the ground.  The weight of the ice was too much for so many branches and even a lot of the trees.  The sounds were amazing (and a little depressing) with the cracking and popping of tree limbs and branches breaking throughout the day and night.

Surprisingly, we only lost a couple branches on the tree above and it sprang right up as soon as the ice melted.  We weren't as lucky with the one in the image below.

This was our backyard after the ice melted but before all the snow was gone.  It doesn't really do the mess justice however since the snow is hiding a lot of the debris.  We are working our way around the yard now and have started various piles.  It'll be nice when they are GONE.  Drive around town though, and you see the mess is everywhere.  At least our trees are pretty well cleared of any remaining widow-makers for the year. :)
