Much to the kids' disappointment, today was an errand day. After (begrudgingly) attending the mandatory timeshare breakfast, we headed south to our usual stomping grounds, El Cid - El Moro, to drop in on our friend Susanna who helped us with our arrangements for our trip. (We'll be living downstairs from her next month). Just walking in to the resort feels a bit like a homecoming but seeing folks who we've visited with many times over the years makes it especially wonderful.
Following a wonderful visit at El Moro, we headed to The Social Cafe to catch up with Jen & Michael who we met on our last trip here.

Our final errand had us heading to calle Insurgentes to check in with Fred of English & Spanish for All who has organized our classes for this trip.
So, only three errands, really, but by the time we finished with Fred, it was almost 3:00 and the kids were DONE!!! They were begging for some pool time and frankly, we were ready for it too. So back we went to El Moro to swim.
... and Basketball: Los Mazatlan Nauticos
What an awesome treat! One of my favorite things about traveling is meeting new people. And in our experience in Mexico, the native English speakers tend to gravitate toward one another, especially if their Spanish is limited. Anyway, yesterday at the Marina pool, we met a basketball coach whose semi-pro team would be playing Monday evening at Cum (a convention center not far from us). Count us in!
Los Mazatlan Nauticos vs. Los Hermosillo Rayos
*Having two exchange student friends from there, Hermosillo was actually the first city I visited in Mexico my freshman year of college making this competition even more fun.

It wasn't quite the buzzer beater win of the Villa Nova game we watched on TV over spring break but it was an exciting finish! After trailing the entire game, Los Rayos, came back to within 1 point with just seconds to go. The Nauticos blocked an attempt to take the lead, then increased their lead with two free throw shots, and a lay-up to win 97-94.
